BEIJING (AP) _ RISE Education Cayman Ltd. (REDU) on Thursday reported first-quarter profit of $5.4 million.
The Beijing-based company said it had profit of 9 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and stock option expense, came to 11 cents per share.
The provider of after-school English and tutoring services posted revenue of $49.9 million in the period.
RISE Education shares have increased 19% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $9.47, a fall of 44% in the last 12 months.
